A judge in the United States dismissed Donald Trump’s claim against writer E. Jean Carroll. Carroll had previously won a $5 million verdict against Trump for defamation and sexual assault in May.
Trump sued Carroll for saying “yes, he did” when asked on CNN about the jury’s decision that he was responsible for sexual assault, even though he was not found guilty of rape.
He didn’t like it when Carroll said to his lawyer “you know he did it” after the verdict was announced.
A judge in Manhattan ruled that Trump’s claim of defamation must be dismissed because Carroll’s statements were mostly true and Trump couldn’t prove that Carroll made them with bad intentions.
Trump responded to a second lawsuit by Carroll, who wants $10 million. Trump’s and Carroll’s lawyers did not comment.
