Borussia Dortmund lost 3-2 to Wolfsburg on Sunday after Hoffenheim scored twice in the second half to give the Wolfsburg team a three-point lead in the Bundesliga.
On 41 points, Dortmund are fifth in the Bundesliga table, one point behind Leipzig and six behind third-placed Stuttgart (1-1 at home to Cologne on Saturday).
Hoffenheim took the lead two minutes into the second half when Ihlas Boubou dribbled his way through the Dortmund defence and found the back of the net with a close-range shot.
Borussia Dortmund equalised in the 21st minute thanks to a close-range volley from Donyel Malen following a corner from which Marco Reus flicked. Four minutes later, Schlotterbeck headed home a free kick to make it 2-1.
In the 61st minute, Beier scored his second goal, a tap-in, after a deflected shot at the edge of the penalty area.
Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can went close to a late equaliser with a close-range header as his side suffered their first loss of the season. Hoffenheim are now seventh in the Bundesliga with 30 points from 23 games.
