While his latest film hasn’t been doing well at the theaters, one of his Furiosa co-stars has already announced her plans for her next appearance. A recent report from Deadline has confirmed that Chris Hemsworth, who portrays the antagonist Dementus in the Mad Max spinoff, is cast in the lead role for a future crossover film between Transformers and G.I. Joe. The conclusion of the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts film was a key moment for the crossover idea when Anthony Ramos’ character Noah Diaz was given a G.I. Joe role by Michael Kelly’s character Agent Burke. This marks Hemsworth’s return to the Transformers universe, as he is also set to voice Optimus Prime in the upcoming animated movie Transformers One, alongside Brian Tyree Henry and Scarlett Johansson, who played him in Marvel movies.
Over the past few years, Hemsworth has had an exciting journey as one of the few stars from the Infinity Saga to wear the cape right after Avengers: Endgame ended. He returned to his role in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, which was seen as one of the most eagerly anticipated films in the years after Endgame’s release but fell short of what many expected. This movie received a 63% rating from critics and a 73% rating from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. However, Hemsworth has recently shared that he might have exaggerated some of the comedy in his performance for Love and Thunder.
What Else Is Chris Hemsworth Starring In?
Hemsworth is set to make a comeback in the talked-about animated movie, Transformers One, which is scheduled to debut exclusively in cinemas on September 20, 2024. Beyond voicing Optimus Prime, the superhero actor is involved in many thrilling upcoming projects, such as his role in the upcoming third movie of his collaboration with Anthony and Joe Russo, Extraction 3, and the just-announced Crime 101 movie adaptation, where he’ll share the screen with a fellow Marvel alum, Mark Ruffalo.
Outside the scope of the Marvel cosmos, Hemsworth has maintained his active schedule throughout his tenure, with no indication of a decrease in his energy level. Recently, Hemsworth has expanded his character range, co-starring with Miles Teller in the psychological suspense movie Spiderhead for Netflix, and he has also ventured into the Men in Black series with the 2019 release International, which boasts a star-studded cast including Tessa Thompson, Kumail Nanjiani, and Rebecca Ferguson.
The Transformers/G.I. Joe movie that hasn’t been given a title hasn’t set a specific release date yet. Keep an eye on Collider for more information and enjoy seeing Steven Hotz in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which is currently showing in movie theaters.
